Tools (Personal)

Connect tool servers that give your assistant extra functions — filter which tools you use and understand when admins manage tools centrally.

Tools extend what the assistant can do beyond answering — calling an internal API, looking up a system, generating a document. This page covers your personal tool options; administrators register and permit tool servers workspace-wide in Tools (Admin).

Tool filter

My Settings → Tools includes a Tool Filter: choose which of the tools available to you are enabled for your chats by default.

  • Tools your administrator has made available appear here (registered by administrators; see the admin guide).
  • Deselect anything you don't want the assistant using; leave on what you rely on.
  • The same tools can also be selected per conversation or per template — those choices override your defaults for that chat/assistant.

Personal tool servers

Where your workspace permits, you can add a connection to a tool server you personally use (an OpenAPI-compatible endpoint or a recognised tools server):

  1. My Settings → Tools → Add Connection.
  2. Provide the server address and any key the server requires.
  3. Save — its tools become selectable in the filter and in chats.

Note:

Many organisations lock this down: tool servers can perform real actions, so administrators often require their own registration and review step. If Add Connection is unavailable to you, that's a deliberate policy — request the tool through your administrator.

Good practice

  • Least tools — enable only what each assistant actually needs; fewer tools means fewer surprises and faster responses.
  • Read before enabling — skim a tool's description to know what side effects it can have.
  • Report odd tools — unexpected entries should go to your admin team.
